I teach 5th and 6th grade. I enjoy teaching the vocabulary items that I have taught through games. I find it very efficient and fun for me and the class. It is also very important for me that everyone participates. Therefore, I play with my classes Tic Tac To. I divide the class in two. Then I choose a pupil and ask a question according to his or her level of English. My aim is that they feel success, so I think of a question that I think they know the answer to. This way they do not feel intimated to participate. Examples of questions:
Give me three examples of healthy food
The opposite of weak is
How do you say menu in Hebrew
How do you say מסעדה in English
Jerusalemis the _ ofIsrael.
I also write the answers on the board, so they see the words as well. They really like this game and it is a great review. I also review words from previous chapters, so it is a great way to recycle old items as well.
